The polo fields at Bluewater Creek Farm in Elgin, Alabama were the backdrop for a new series of television commercials featuring Centaur Fence.
Edward Robbins III, owner of Bluewater Creek Farm and Centaur Fence in Muscle Shoals, staged the commercials with the help of some local talent, including eight members of the Roger High School football squad. The line-up included Steve Cocsis, Derek Boatright, Caleb Pigg, Chris Henley, Zeke Pigg, Logan Flowers, Corey Brooks and Jake Hughs.
To demonstrate the extraordinary flexibility and safety of Centaur fence material, Robbins had the suited-up and helmeted football players run at the four-rail fence, which is constructed of high tensile polymer. As might be expected, these young men thought the task would be simple, uneventful, and possibly even silly. But these rugged boys were really surprised as they rushed the fence structure — they literally bounced off, recoiled back and fell to the ground. And then, predictably, it became great sport for these young men. The cameras kept rolling and the squad kept bouncing.
Since Centaur Fence is design specifically for the safekeeping of horses, it’s easy for the television viewer to understand how this fence would be exceptionally safe for horses; the animals could not be injured with any encounter with this type of fencing material. “I wanted to show the difference between Centaur Fence and other kinds of fencing like wire or wood, and believed that having these young men show the strength and flexibility of Centaur would visually impact the television audience,” says Robbins.
To add to the fun aspect of this commercial, Robbins rolled out a horse racing starting gate (at one time he trained Thoroughbreds on the farm’s racetrack) and had the football squad burst out of the gate as the racing bell went off — as though they were race horses. From there the television cameras followed the football players rushing the fence. It’s rumored that the squad dubbed the event a new reality sport: extreme fence bouncing.
The Centaur television commercial airs Wednesday, December 5 (afternoon and evening) on HorseCityTV, which is broadcast on RFD-TV (DishTV channel 231; DirecTV channel 379). Check your local listings for times. More information can be found on www.centaurhorsefence.com.
